Deborah Louise Herring

March 9, 1951 — January 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah (Debbie) Louise Herring, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on January 4, 2025. Born on March 9, 1951, in Castroville, TX, and raised in LaCoste, TX, Debbie touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit.

Debbie dedicated her life to her family and is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Herring; her devoted children, Scott Herring (Jennifer Herring) and Robyn Herring; and her cherished grandchildren, Miranda, Sarah, and Ryan Herring. Her legacy also extends through her close-knit siblings, Douglas Biediger (Deborah Biediger), Cathy LaManna, and Francine Riedel each having shared countless memories filled with love and laughter.

Debbie enjoyed a dedicated and fulfilling career at M.D. Anderson Research Center in Bastrop, TX, where she began as a Medical Technologist in 1984. Her exceptional abilities and leadership ultimately led her to become the Lab Manager for the Clinical Pathology Laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Sciences. Debbie also earned the award for “Outstanding Employee” of the entire M.D. Anderson system.

In addition to her healthcare career, she also served as the practice administrator for Elgin Family Dental, where her organizational skills and heartfelt service helped build a successful dental practice that has withstood the test of time.

In the face of life’s adversities, Debbie showcased incredible resilience. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, she emerged as a breast cancer survivor, inspiring those around her with her determination and positive outlook. Her journey through illness only fortified her profound appreciation for life.

Debbie possessed a remarkable talent for sewing, a passion that blossomed into creating unique and beautiful purses and accessories which she lovingly gifted to family and friends. Each of her creations was like a piece of her heart, stitched with care and intention. Her creativity was a reflection of her vibrant spirit, leaving a mark on everyone she encountered.

A warm and welcoming soul, Debbie was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to light up a room with her smile. Her capacity for love and compassion inspired all who knew her. She found joy in the small moments—whether it was family gatherings, quiet evenings with loved ones, or simply tending to her plants.

As we say our goodbyes, we hold dear the memories of Debbie’s kindness and her profound love for her family. We are grateful for the time we had with her and will carry her spirit in our hearts forever.

In honor of her memory, the family invites you to join them in celebrating her life on January 18, 2025 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am and will be followed by A Celebration of Debbie's Life at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Debbie’s favorite nonprofit organizations, Cattlemen For Cancer Research. Memorials can be made online at www.cattlemen4cancerresearch.org or mailed to P.O.Box 672 Elgin, TX 78621.
