David Quiroz, Sr.

David Quiroz Sr. was the eldest of six boys born to Alberto and Herlinda Quiroz in the community of Hornsby Bend on December 8, 1934. Our beloved David was called to his Heavenly Home on December 17, 2021.

He married the love of his life, Carmen Quiroz and they shared a blessed union for over 64 years, having six children together. He was a carpenter, machine operator and migrant worker. He was a loving, kind and generous man never thinking twice about blessing anyone in need. He loved his family, they were everything to him, he always instilled unity, respect, and kindness among us. David attended church, he knew and loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved to spend time outside working on his garden, pruning his roses, and making homemade picnic tables, benches, tables, and wooden crosses. He was an avid cook, making his homemade Mexican Chorizo, Menudo, and Ice Cream! He enjoyed listening to music, was a talented dancer, had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party!

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen Quiroz, sons, Vincent and Edward Quiroz, mother, Herlinda Sanchez, father, Albert Quiroz, and brothers, Angel and Pete Quiroz.

David is survived in death by his son, David Quiroz Jr. of Austin, Texas, daughter, Linda Q. Hidrogo (Arcadio) of Lake Villa, Illinois, daughter, Connie Q. Villanueva (Ruben) of Del Valle, Texas, daughter, Sophie Q. Guerrero (Daniel) of Austin, Texas, and 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind three brothers, Gilbert, Ramon, and Henry Quiroz.

Open viewing will be available beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas. Funeral visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The interment is scheduled on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Hornsby Cemetery on FM 969 (East of Don’s BBQ).
