David Jerome Ging

June 22, 1943 — September 24, 2018

On Monday September 24 th David Ging did not awaken from a very peaceful sleep. He had fought a hard fight with multiple health issues to the very end. Finally our “Energizer Bunny” is gone.

David Jerome Ging was born on June 22, 1943 in Coupland. He attended the Coupland and Taylor Schools. He married Lena Bell Turner sometime between April 13th and June 12 th of 1963. Family and loved ones know when they celebrate! They were married for 55 years. David was an active member of the New Sweden Lutheran Church in Manor for over 45 years. He was a council member, usher, help lead the senior group, a game master and Pastor wrangler. He was an active member of the New Sweden Lutheran Brotherhood where he provided assistance with many meals and trips to San Antonio.

David was a hardworking man. He and Lena worked together when they started their life together. He was able to retire from IBM. Then he and Lena worked together again at Barker’s Ace Hardware until Lena’s retirement.

Preceding David in death was his son David Alan, his parents Ewald Sr. and Gladys, Brother Ewald Jr. “Butch”, Sister Carol Dyer, Brother-in-Law Donald (Bucket) Dryer. As well as both his Mother and Father in-law Ruby and Euell Tuner, his brother-in-law Marvin Markert, sister-in-law Jo Turner, sister-in-law Ruby Nell Bowen, brother-in-law Ray Bowen, nephews; Robert Markert, Ricky (Birdie) Flores, and Mikey Bowen.

Surviving David is his Wife Lena, his children Janice Ging, Stanley Ging and wife Suzette, and Daughter-in-law Tammy Flores. Grandchildren Zachary, Kiefer, Brittany, Chelsea, Cierra Flores, and Ashleigh Flores. Then there were the great grands; Kyngdon Ging and Cianna Alderete. Those left to mourn David are his Brother Wayne and wife Carolyn, Sister-in-law Jo Ann Ging, Brother Michael, Brother-in-law James Turner, Brother-in-law William Turner, Sister-in-law Mary Markert. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.

He will fondly be remembered for his ability to turn anyone’s frown upside down. He found a way to thoroughly enjoy life and he wanted everyone else to laugh along with him.

Pallbearers will be Zac Ging, Kiefer Ging, Kyngdon Ging, Chris Dyer, Wayne Ging Jr. Floyd Bowen, and Justin Turner.  Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Laura Gilbey, PA Brandy Wellmon, Dr. Luis Casaubon, Dr. Todd Gage, Dr. Shane Malloney, and Dr. Bryan Irvin.

A Visitation will be held for 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 27, 2018 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 28, 2018 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
