Damon Wayne Daughtry, 57, of McDade, Texas died Saturday, July 25, 2020. Damon was born July 23, 1963 in Elgin, Texas. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1981 and attended the University of Texas. Damon was outgoing, friendly, and had a wonderful sense of humor resulting in many friends. Damon married Teri Madigan on June 4, 1994. Most recently, he served as the Chief Appraiser for Burleson County Tax Appraisal District. The family will especially miss Damon’s cooking during family gatherings because he was our favorite chef.
Damon is survived by his wife, Teri; stepdaughter, Charity (Sam) Autry; grandchildren, Spencer and Jackson Autry; mother, Lola (Carl) Cole; father, Ken (Beverly) Daughtry; sister, Shannon (Clarence Goins) Lollar; stepsisters, Susan (Scott) Jurk; Kim (Mark) Ryman; and Tammy (Scott) Martin; sisters-in-law, Pat (David) Kriener, Barbara Creasman, and Sharon Madigan; numerous nieces and nephews; aunt, Edna Baker; uncle, Buster Bostic; several cousins; as well as great niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by two aunts, Ruth Bostic and Millie Johnson.
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Damon’s name to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter, 589 Cool Water Drive, Bastrop, Texas 78602.
