Clifton Howard Gibson Sr.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith II Timothy 4:6-7

On June 3, 2018 Clifton Gibson Sr. heard the voice of Jesus and left this earthly tabernacle for his heavenly home. Clifton Howard Gibson Sr., was born Aaron and Irene Gibson on February 20, 1935 in Calvert, Texas. Clifton attended school in Rosebud, Texas.

Clifton gave his Life to Christ and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Rosebud, Texas. He later moved his membership to Holy Temple Church in Elgin, Texas under the leadership of the late, Rev. Alvin Reese. He was an ordained deacon and later answered the call to preach the gospel. He attended church faithfully until his health failed. He loved to sing and play his guitar.

He was united in holy matrimony to Julia Pellum in 1958. To this union two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Arthur Gibson Sr., two sisters, Lela Bell Green and Shirley James.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Clifton Gibson Jr. (Shirley), and Terry Gibson Sr. (Yolanda). Six grandchildren: Patrick, Antoinette, La’Chelle, Sherelle, Terry Jr., and Tyler. Seven sisters: Rosie (Willie) Nolan, Erma Jean (Robert) Simmons, Emma (Al) Brown, Jessie Marie (Clyde), Frankie Gibson, Marcel Gibson, and Irene Owens. Fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Friday, June 8, 2018. Celebration of Clifton’s Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 9, 2018 Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
