Charlene Lanelle Cain

With great sadness the family announces that Charlene Lanell Cain, 69 years old, of Austin, TX passed away at her home on December 11, 2023, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease.

Charlene was the daughter of Charles and Doloris McClendon.  Born April 21, 1954, she attended the University of Texas where she completed 24 semester hours.

She married Robert Leonidas Cain, and they spent many wonderful years together.  Charlene worked for DPS for 49 years earning a lot of recognition.  Some of her accomplishments where she assisted in the creation of the missing children’s/missing persons cleaning house.  Charlene designed and implemented data collection for family violence reporting, and also implemented hate crime reporting, both mandated by the Texas Legislature.

Her hobbies included spending time with her family, especially her grandson Harlen Cain, and baking all kinds of treats.

Mrs. Cain is survived by her husband Robert Cain, son Robert (Bobby) Cain II, Grandson Harlen Cain, Brother Charles McClendon, sister Beth Brown as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday December 27, 2023, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 Am Thursday, December 28, 2023, Adina Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Adina Cemetery.
