Camilla Kennedy

March 26, 1954 — June 8, 2022

Camilla Early Kennedy was born on March 26, 1954, in Austin, Texas to Charles Edmond and Frances Blackstone Early.  She joined her Lord and Savior at the age of 68 on June 8, 2022, with her sister and her husband by her side holding her hand.

Camilla graduated from Lanier High School and worked as a hairdresser until she met Harold Lee Kennedy at Allendale Baptist Church in 1981. They were married the following year on July 17, 1982. As it turns out, Camilla’s father was stationed in Korea at the time of her birth and her mother gave birth to her at the Bergstrom Air Force Base (now ABIA), so naturally, Camilla went on to marry a pilot. Camilla and Harold left the church after saying their “I Do’s” in style. His friend (and Best Man) charted a helicopter (aka “Wife Flight”) to take them from the church. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage next month.

Camilla enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling with her husband. She would travel with Harold when he was a pilot for United Airlines but would have to fly stand-by. Oftentimes she would get bumped and have to get a hotel room for the night and try to get a flight to catch up to him the following day. After this would occur, it would take Camilla a few months, if not a year, to try again. After Harold’s retirement, they started taking more cruises. They have been on 28 cruises including crossing the Atlantic Ocean twice, once from Barcelona to Cape Canaveral and again from Miami to Copenhagen. Their last cruise was in 2018 from New York to Bermuda along with their friends.

Camilla went into a memory care facility in 2019. She was visited often by the chaplain who would play Elvis Presley’s gospel songs for her because she loved Christian music and Elvis so what better combination.

Camilla is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and four sweet Angel babies.

Camilla is survived by her husband, Harold of Pflugerville, TX, sister, Cheryl Ross of Pflugerville, TX and brothers, Robert Early of Austin, TX and Donald Early of Liberty Hill, TX.  She is loved and will be greatly missed by them along with many nieces and nephews.
