Bobbie J. Miller

Bobbie Joe Logan was born July 14, 1938 in Killeen Texas at the home of her Grandmother Jackson.  She went to be with her Lord July 19. 2018, she was 80 years old.

When she was three years old her parents moved to rural Bastrop County outside of Elgin.  She graduated from Elgin High School in June 1957, that same week on June 7 th she married the love of her life J. B. Miller in the home of their Pastor, Paul Rosell.  They built a home and raised three children on their little farm a couple miles south of Elgin on Farm Road 1704, across the road from where she was raised.

Bobbie began her career working at many Austin area HEB and Safeway Grocery Stores as cashier and cash manager.  She went to work at Elgin Butler Brick in the main office in Austin in the late 60's, after she left there she worked for the University of Texas EX Students Association.  She started in the bookkeeping department and retired in 2003 as the Head of Records.  During her time at the EX Students Association she oversaw the publication of two cookbooks, numerous Member Directories, and the computerization of all the names and address of members – from the beginning of time, and kept them updated with each passing year.

After her retirement she became active in the local Red Hat's and had her own Chapter, Queen's Royal Court.  For many years she hosted a large convention in Elgin for Ladies in the central Texas area.  She was a member of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association, where she served as Vice President with her Husband for many years until this May when she gave it up to younger folks.  She was also an active member of the Sayerville Historical Association.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years J. B. Miller, her parents William and Theeopal Poe, her infant sister and brother, and biological father and step-mother Curtis and Loraine Logan.

Bobbie is survived by her children Brenda and Steve Slough of Elgin, Jeff, Jr. and Sharon Miller of Bastrop, Teresa and Tom Gray of Elgin.  Grandchildren  Ginger and Jim Hull of Blanco, James Aaron Slough of Elgin, William Slough and Nicole Smith of Elgin, Jason and Yvette Miller of Bastrop, Sarah Miller and Andrea Prather of Bastrop, Jonathan Miller and Kristen Embler of San Marcos, Michael Miller of Bastrop, and Logan Gray of Elgin.  Great-grandchildren  Kathryn, Brayden, Addison, and Jackson Hull of Blanco, Lilly and Kaylie Slough of Thrall, Adian and Tristan Smith of Elgin, Gavin, Jeremy, Andy, and Isabella Miller of Bastrop.  Nephews Harvey Raschke,Jr., John and Linda Raschke, and Christopher Miller.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2018, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bobbie’s Life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018, Elgin Evangelical Free Church. Interment will follow in the Oakhill Cemetery, near McDade.
