Beverly Gustafson Whigham Salter

Beverly Lennea Gustafson Whigham Salter, a beloved mother, ”Grammy”, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on December 8, 1949, in Mercedes, Texas, to Carl Daniel Gustafson and Jolene Odom Gustafson.

Beverly is a proud graduate of Lyford High School, class of 1968, and Southwestern University, class of 1972. She was very active in the Methodist Church, and loved serving others from catering and interior design to eventually her favorite occupation, teaching high school kids. She touched countless lives, inspiring her students and forging lifelong relationships.

Her family was always her top priority and she took great pride in being a mother to her only son, Judson Daniel Whigham, and becoming a Grammy when Jack and June Whigham were born. Her boundless energy, and adventurous spirit left a mark on everyone in her orbit.

Beverly is predeceased by her husband, William Salter, her parents, and her sister Brenda Gustafson Kaufmann.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Judson and Claire Whigham, her grandchildren Jack and June Whigham, her sister Beth Anne Gustafson and her spouse Cheryl Gosa, her brother Carl Daniel Gustafson II, his wife, Jan, and her nieces Millicent and Lillian Gustafson and nephew Carl Daniel Gustafson III. She is also survived by her step-sons, Tim and Scott Salter and their families. Beverly also leaves behind many beloved cousins.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Beverly.

Services will be held at Austin Memorial Park on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at 11am.
