Bessie (Morgan) Dube, 83, fell asleep in Jesus and entered eternal life with God the Holy Trinity on Monday, August 14, 2023. She was born to Odell and Marie Morgan on October 22, 1939. On August 22, 1959, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, John Dube Jr., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas. She was baptized into Christ and confirmed her Christian faith on November 15, 1959, at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas, where she also was a faithful member at the time of her death.
Bessie worked for the Elgin Courier and Giddings Times & News for a total of 34 years, with a few years taken off work to spend more time at home with her beloved children, Debbie, and Michael. After her retirement, Bessie helped John run their family ranch.
Bessie’s greatest joy was in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who all spent much of their childhood at her house. She was a kind, generous, and loving woman to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Odell, and Marie Morgan; her daughter, Debbie Gordon; her sister, Dorothy Safarik; her brothers-in-law, Leroy Safarik, Howard Eisenbeck, and Edwin Almquist; and her sister-in-law, Nora Morgan.
Bessie is survived by her beloved husband of almost 64 years, John Dube Jr.; her son Michael Dube and wife Chelle; her grandchildren, Morgan Dube, Coy Dube, Halle Dube, Hunter Gordon, and Shelby Gordon and Fiancé Cameron Jones; her brother, Jimmy Morgan; her sisters, Margie Eisenbeck and Mary Almquist; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bessie’s family will receive visitors at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home on Friday, August 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin on Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carl Roth officiating. She will be laid to rest immediately after the service at McDade Cemetery.
