Arturo Mendoza

Arturo T. Mendoza passed away on February 9, 2022, at the age of 59 in Austin, Texas. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Arturo came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Arturo was born on October 2, 1962, in Downey, California, to Jose Guadalupe and Elia Irma Mendoza. He grew up in a loving family with two brothers (Ricky and Junior) and one sister (Esther). Arturo joined the US Air Force in 1984 where he proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1988. He moved on with a career as a Border Patrol Agent NFLer. He worked hard earning multiple promotions throughout his career retiring as a US Immigration & Customs Enforcement Supervisory Deportation Officer in 2014 with a rank of Lt. Colonel aka “The Colonel.”

Arturo met and married Marie and had two beautiful children, Vanessa and Danny Mendoza. While he and Marie amicably separated, Arturo never stopped loving and caring for his children. He was fortunate to find love for a second time with Juanita Mendoza, his “Corazon.” Together, they raised a blended family with seven children; four boys (Victor, Mauro, Michael, and Danny), two girls (Michelle and Vanessa), and his newly adopted “daughter,” Snoopy. Arturo leaves behind 19 amazing grandchildren ranging in age from 5 months to 30 years. He loved his grandchildren and they loved him even more.

Arturo is preceded in death by his “boys,” Lobo and Milo; man’s two best friends.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 3:30 to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
