Artie F. Monson

Artie Frances Monson, 79, of Elgin, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017.

Artie was born Oct. 26, 1938 in the Wildwood Community to Arthur and Agnes (Heger) Oncken.

She retired from the IRS after 30 years of service and recently retired from the First National Bank of Bastrop, Elgin Branch.

Artie is preceded in death by an infant daughter Janet Sue Monson, her parents Arthur and Agnes Oncken of Weimar; two brothers John G. Oncken of Katy; Paul Oncken of Weimar.

She leaves behind a daughter, Carol Broach and husband Bill, of Bryan; son, Lloyd Warren Monson, Jr. of Elgin, daughter, Patricia Monson of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., and one grandson, Taylor Broach of Bryan.

Also surviving Artie are three sisters, Agnes Jurek and husband Dennis of Schulenburg, Clara Holub and husband Tommy of Katy and Cynthia Beene and husband James of Luling along with two sisters-in-law, Carole Oncken of Weimar and Irene Oncken of Katy, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home followed with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Celebration of Mass Christian Burial will be held 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Michael Church in Weimar, TX, with Father Wayne Flagg officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are John Oncken Jr., Shandy Oncken, Dennis Brett Jurek, Kris Jurek, Kent Vick, Jason Oncken, Brian Hinkel, and Brandon Pesak

Memorials may be given to St. Michael Church or School.
