Apolinrio (Paul) Alvarez was called home on March 8, 2018.
He was born on January 6, 1944 in Palacios, TX. to Baldomero Alvarez and Manuela Morales. He was the 11th child of a family of 14 brothers and sisters. His parents, his sons Ralph and Roy and 11 brothers and sisters preceeded him in death
Apolinrio leaves behind his son Samuel Alvarez and daughter Syvia and husband Jacob Contreras of Elgin, his grandchildren, Joseph Paul of San Antonio, Bethany of Bastrop, Chevelle of Elgin, Roileo of Washington, Alicia of Arizona, his sister Francis Ybarra whom he was very close too, his brothers Lewis Alvarez of Elgin, Inez Alvarez of Humble, TX. and many nephews and nieces who loved their uncle Paul.
Paul had two careers in his life, farming and truck driving both of which he enjoyed doing. But the thing that brought him the most joy was watching his grandchildren growing up.
Many will remember Paul as the greeter at his son's business at Sam's Floor Designs, he was the first person that you would see walking in, he would greet you from his chair. He had his round-table where he would invite you to sit and talk about anything and everything, he enjoyed the conversations they had.
The Greatest Man
I knew a man; he was the greatest man
I've known in all my days.
Then one day God called on him,
and now he's gone away
I loved this man with all my heart,
and in my heart he'll stay.
Continuing to lift me up,
and lead me when I stray.
This great man he was my Dad,
he meant the world to me.
he was always there supporting me,
even when he disagreed.
He was my rock, my sounding board,
He could always make me see.
The things in life that matter most,
are truth and family.
Even though eye to eye
we do not always see.
I promise Dad to live my life,
with love and honesty.
I miss you Dad so very much,
and deeply it pains me.
I can't believe I won't hear your voice.
I hope you know you're my hero,
and this you'll always be.
I will find strength, I'll carry on,
and I'll make you proud of me.
Until the day we meet again,
I know waiting you will be.
In paradise, I'll see you there,
with your arms wide open for me.
I'll see you when I see you again.
Love you Pop.
