Annette Faye Maze

September 1, 1945 — October 3, 2022

Annette Faye Williams Maze, age 77, passed from this world into the loving arms of our Lord and our Savior on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Belmont Village Senior Living in Lakeway, Texas. She is now whole and experiencing joys we cannot even imagine! She was born on September 1, 1945, in LaGrange, Texas, to Grant Henry and Dorothy Emily (Flath) Williams, the granddaughter of German immigrants, Emil and Katherine (Wessels) Flath, and was the eldest of three daughters that included Dena Kathleen and Bonnie Ann Williams.

Annette and her family were charter members of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Prairie Valley in West Point, Texas. Annette attended LaGrange High School where she was a majorette. After graduation, she became a Certified Dental Assistant and worked for several dentists in the Austin, Texas, area. She was recognized by the Texas Dental Association and awarded first place for a lecture she gave concerning the value of education in dentistry. She met her best friend, Diane Martin, at the age of 18 while attending dental assistant school and they enjoyed a friendship that lasted for close to sixty years. She loved dancing and for a brief time taught country and western dancing at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Austin. After meeting Dr. Richard Mayerson, a Podiatrist in Austin, she trained to become certified to assist in minor surgeries and podiatry care. Annette and Dr. Mayerson became business partners in a podiatry practice in North Austin for about fifteen years. Annette met the love of her life, Everett Maze, and they were married on Christmas Eve in 1970 and had a wonderful life together for fifty years. After Everett sold Maze Heating and Air Conditioning and retired, Annette, who wanted to stay a city gal, reluctantly moved to their ranch in Spicewood, Texas. Little did she know what an exciting adventure living in the hill country would become as she, with Everett’s help, transformed the ranch into what is known today as Hill Country Farms. She was introduced to goat ranching by a dear friend and the rest is history. She and Everett started out with Spanish goats, Nubians and even some Alpines, but they ended up with their favorite breed, Boar goats. They traveled extensively showing their goats and winning many awards that now cover their walls with champion show ribbons and shelves packed with trophies. Annette became a well-known “Advanced Judge” for twenty-five years with the American Dairy Goat Association judging shows across Texas and nationwide. In 1993, Everett’s welding shop was converted into an Embryo Transplant Facility, and they operated a quarantine facility as well for several years while breeding and exporting goats in the United States and worldwide. In 1997, Annette established and served as Executive Director for the United States Boar Goat Association (USBGA) for many years. Annette is well known for her love of animals. Over the span of fifty years, she and Everett raised many animals on the ranch. In addition to horses, cattle, barbados and goats, they had peacocks, turkeys, ducks, chickens, quail, pigs, sheep, and a llama named Dolly. She bred and raised Great Pyrenees dogs and had a Burmese cattery for many years. One of her favorite sayings was, “everything is pregnant on the hill except me!”

Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett General Maze; her parents, Grant Henry and Dorothy Emily (Flath) Williams; and both sisters, Dena Kathleen and Bonnie Ann Williams.

She is survived by three children:  Mark (Joyce) Dwayne Maze of Austin, Tx; Deborah “Debbie” Gail Maze of Round Rock, Tx, and Debby “Criquette” (Ron) Hilliard of Elgin, Tx; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; other family and friends.

We want to thank family and friends that have helped to care for Annette and her husband, Everett, over the years. We especially want to thank Belmont Village Senior Living for their excellent care during the last year and seven months of Annette’s life when she needed the most care. We cannot thank Hospice Austin enough for providing outstanding, passionate, and loving care from July 1, 2022, to her passing on October 3, 2022.

Annette is remembered for her outgoing personality, her crazy sense of humor, love for her animals and her ranch, her generosity and as the “Queen” of the Home Shopping Network!

Annette is also remembered for her vanity license plate attached to her ranch golf cart. She truly was an “Amazing” woman!!!

Plans are to spread Annette’s ashes with Everett’s ashes on their beloved Hill Country Ranch. The spreading of Annette’s ashes and a celebration of her life are to be announced.
