Amy Witt Broce Buettner, 92, of Elgin, Texas passed away July 1, 2017.
She was born July 20, 1924 in Hot Springs, Virginia to Claude and Ruby Broce. Amy is proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Buettner Jr., and her brothers Grayson and Charlie Broce. Amy is survived by her two children, son Bill (Sally) Buettner, III of North Little Rock, Arkansas and daughter Coletta (Jon) Garcia, of Elgin, Texas; two sisters, Janet Holloway of Hot Springs, Virginia, Claudia McAllister of Hot Springs, Virginia; brother Reid Broce of Richmond, Virginia; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Growing up in Hot Springs, Virginia, Amy was part of a very close-knit family and community. She especially enjoyed her high school years where she was a star basketball player for Valley High. Following Bill’s service in World War II, Amy and Bill moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where they started their family. After raising her two children, she started working for the Pinellas County School District. She spent 20 years as a school secretary and enjoyed her time working with the children.
A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, July 10, 2017, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 Pm. Mass Of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday July 11, 2017, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be at a later date at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clearwater, Florida.
