Barbara Jean Strahan

Barbara Jean Strahan of Elgin, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at her home.

She was born in Cameron, Texas on October 29, 1943 and was preceded in death by her parents; Will and Antoinette Horelica, her sister, JoAnn Dieck and her niece Deborah Chapman.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Wayne Strahan; her daughter Tracy Andrews and her husband Scott and her grandchildren; Lachlan, Lindley and Spohie of Ballarat Victoria, Australia; and her son Jason Strahan and his wife Doyoung and her grandson Damon of Chicago, Illinois, her sister Patsy Cordier and her husband Jack of Belton, TX; her nephew Darren Cordier and her great niece Jennifer McGary.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be remembered for her fierce independence, strength, and laughter and giving nature. She also was a Teacher’s Aide at Elgin Elementary and a patron of C.H. Yoe High Alumni Scholarship Fund.

The family will gather to meet with friend at 6:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Elgin Providence Funeral Home with Rosary to be said at 7:00PM. Mass and Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elgin, Texas. Inurnment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
