Hector Martinez

Hector Martinez, age 76, of Elgin was called to his eternal home on August 6, 2010.

He was born October 14, 1933 in Elgin, Texas to Cecilio Martinez, Sr. and Maria Montemayor Martinez. He attended the Elgin Public Schools. Hector served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957. He retired from ALCOA in Rockdale where he was a crane operator.
He was married to Bertha Chapa on February 12, 1955 and celebrated their 55th anniversary this past February. They had two daughters, Rosemary and Bertha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jesus Hector Martinez; a brother, Ramon and a sister Maria Guadalupe.

A Rosary will be recited at Elgin Providence Funeral Home on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, August 9, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin, Texas. Burial will follow in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Bertha Martinez; daughters, Rosemary Lucio and husband Ralph, and Bertha Ostiguin and husband Lupe; a brother, Cecilio Martinez, Jr. and wife Gerri; 3 sisters, Rebecca Rodriguez, Mary Helen Ramirez and husband Fletcher, Dolores Cantu; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Lucio, Marcus Lucio, Jacqueline Ostiguin and Jacob Ostiguin; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
