Glenda Lee Virginia Lax Swenson was born on Christmas Day, 1936 in Taylor, Texas and went to be with her Lord April 1, 2010. She showed insurmountable strength and courage during her 8 year battle with breast cancer and succumbed to an unknown cancer after and short and hard fought course.
Her husband of 44 years, Gordon Swenson and her parents, Arthur and Virginia (McKenzie) Lax preceded her in death.
Glenda was a graduate of Elgin High School, attended Blinn Junior College and Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing. For 25 years, she was employed as an office nurse for a local family physician. In 1997 she retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 15 years of service.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 12, was confirmed and baptized, and at the time of her death, was a faithful member of Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church, Type, Texas.
Survivors are two daughters, Charlotte and her partner Tim Fender, Jan Swenson, grandson Jacob Maynard and his wife Brittany, great grandson Jacob Maynard, Jr. One brother, Byron Lax and wife, Phyllis of Arlington, Texas, one sister, Marilyn Boatman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. She is also survived by her loyal companion, Howard Lundgren.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening April 4th from 6 to 8 pm at Providence Funeral Home, 604 Highway 95 N, Elgin, Texas. A celebration of her life will be Monday April 5th 10 A.M. at Yegua Creek Evangelical Church with Pastor Mark Nygard officiating . Burial to follow at the Elgin City Cemetery.
We will cherish our memories of her sense of humor, her loving and generous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends.
