Mildred Jones Tisdale

Mildred Jones entered life on March 7, 1933. She was the youngest daughter of Isaiah “Fellow” Jones and Leatrice Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters: El’Ester Madison, Helen Wade and Cleo Haggar.

She attended school in Elgin at Booker T Washington. In high school she was a majorette and graduate of Booker T Washington High School. In high school she met classmate, Norman Tisdale. After graduation they married and moved to San Antonio, Texas.

In San Antonio, Mildred Jones Tisdale attended St. Phillips College in their Nursing Program. She graduated with a License Vocational Nursing Diploma. She passed the state for LVN license. She worked at the Robert B Green Hospital while living in San Antonio, Texas. Mildred continued to work there after her divorce to Mr. Tisdale.

She returned to Elgin to be there for her ailing parents. During this time she worked at Holy Cross Hospital until after her parents deaths. She then retired. While in retirement she remained actively working at the following:
1. Elgin Nursing Home
2. Elgin Community Center
3. Elgin Food Pantry Program
She remained active in church at Pleasant Bethany and other organizations until her illness.

Mildred Jones Tisdale is survived by her nieces and nephews:
Ruth Harris, CharlesEtta Bruno, Veronica Wade-Buster, Andre Haggar, Austin Bruno Jr., Keith Gregory, Valarie Bruno, Doretta Bruno Windham with many more Great nieces and nephews. Debra Collins her” beloved adopted daughter.”
She also is survived by longtime friend Lorance “Chili Red” Jones and his loving children with a host of other family and Friends.

A viewing will be held 2:00 AM-8:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Mildred's Life will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016, Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Sayersville Cemetery
