Elmer Rudy Faske, 74, rancher/retiree, of Elgin was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, August 12, 2016.
Elmer Rudy Faske was born on January 31, 1942 in Georgetown, Texas to Rudolph and Alma (Domel) Faske. He was baptized on February 15, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX and confirmed on May 24, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg. His confirmation verse was 1Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of eternal life to which you were called and have professed a good profession before many witnesses”.
He graduated in 1960 from Jarrell High School and attended Blinn College before accepting a position at the Veterans Administration in Austin. He retired in 2001 to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle. Elmer took to heart those words spoken at his baptism Mark, 10:14 …”Lasset die Kindlein zu mirkommen, und wehret ihnen nicht, denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes”. (…“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such of these”) by serving as Sunday School Superintendent for over 25 years at Holy Word Lutheran Church in Austin.
Elmer was married to Irene Kaiser on November 27, 1965 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, TX. This union was blessed for 50 years and the birth of three children, Tim, Travis, and Tammy. He was a dedicated father and husband that enjoyed being with his family. He rarely missed a family function, always looked forward to a visit by his children, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Other pastime favorites consisted of feeding his cattle on his ranch, feeding fish in the pond, and playing dominoes with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by both his parents; parents-in-law, Walter and Selma Kaiser; brothers-in-law, Herbert Schubert and Curtis Tally; nephew, Ronnie Schubert and niece, Cindy Clifford.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Irene of Elgin; three children, Tim and Donna Faske of Lexington, Travis and Jennifer Faske of Maumelle (AR), Randall and Tammy Boehme of Tyler; three grandchildren, Casey, Clayton, and Colton Faske; brothers Odell (Jeanette) Faske and Howard (Martha) Faske; sisters-in-law, Alda Bess Schubert and Doris Tally; as well as many other nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, Leslie Schubert, Randy Faske, James Clifford, Gary Clifford, David Clifford, and Matthew Clifford. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Clayton and Colton Faske.
Funeral services for Elmer Faske, 74 of Elgin, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Holy Word Lutheran Church at 10601 Bluff Bend Dr. in Austin, TX 78753 lead by Pastor Donald Patterson. The burial will take place at the St James Lutheran Church cemetery (30.402685, -97.011502) in Lexington. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Providence Jones Funeral Home at 604 Hwy 95 N., Elgin.
