Dale Martin Pyeatt

Dale Martin Pyeatt, COL (Ret), United States Army, 76, of Elgin died Monday, July 11, 2016 after a courageous battle with gastric cancer.

Dale was born April 17, 1940 in Temple to Ray and Irene Chaney Pyeatt. He graduated from Temple High School in 1958. He married Georgie Juan Schiller of Temple in 1960. After spending over 55 years together, Dale followed Georgie in death less than four days after her. He served in the United States Army for over 43 years, served as the executive director for the National Guard Association of Texas from 1990 to 2005, and travelled to over 42 countries with his wife, family, and friends. COL Pyeatt served in the 36th Infantry Division, 49th Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Division, and 50th Armored Division. COL Pyeatt’s military honors include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Award (3), Army Commendation Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Award, Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal, Order of St. George, and Texas Senate Commendation. COL Pyeatt served in CONUS, Europe, and Panama.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Juan Schiller Pyeatt; father, Ray Pyeatt; mother, Irene Chaney Davis; step-father, Russell Vaden (RV) Davis; step-mother, Ruth Pyeatt; an infant daughter, Carrie Ann Pyeatt; sister-in-law Wanda Fletcher Pyeatt; and daughter-in-law, Ivannia Pyeatt.

Survivors include four sons, James Pyeatt and wife Kim of Cypress, David Pyeatt of Elgin, Mark Pyeatt and wife Anna of Cypress, and Daniel Pyeatt and wife Amy of Lucas; brothers, Harold Ray Pyeatt and wife Bobbe of Angleton, and Tommy Lloyd Pyeatt of Temple; and five grandchildren, Matthew and wife Emily, Luke, Katherine, Nicole, and William, who knew him affectionately as Papa Dale.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, July 18th, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 19th, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private Graveside Services will be held in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with Full Military Honors.
