Elaine Matetzschk Farris

Elaine Marie Matetzschk Farris was called home to Heaven the morning of July 4, 2016

Elaine was a beloved Sister, Niece, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother of three boys that she loved and adored, and would do anything for.

Elaine was born at home, on the family farm in Eastern Travis County on August 7th, 1945

She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, the church her grandparents helped establish in the community of Richland, Texas.

Elaine was confirmed by Pastor Engeling on June 12, 1960, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas.
She taught Sunday-School and Vacation Bible School at Manor Methodist in Manor, TX; St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elgin, TX, and Faith Lutheran Church, McDade, TX.

Elaine attended Manor Public Schools and graduated in Austin, TX from Nixon-Clay Business College.

Elaine met the love of her life, Clyde Farris, in 1968 in downtown McDade, TX. A year later Clyde and Elaine were married on February 22, 1969, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elgin, TX.

Elaine and Clyde were blessed with two children, a son Earl Clyde Farris, and then a daughter Kimberly Fay Farris. Three grandsons that were Elaine’s pride and joy; Jordan Ray Calhoun, Clayton Lane Calhoun, Braeden Kade Calhoun.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clyde. She is also survived by her two children Earl Clyde Farris and Kimberly Fay Farris-Calhoun and John, along with their precious boys, Elaine’s grandchildren Jordan Ray and wife Cyndi Calhoun, Clayton Lane Calhoun, and Braeden Kade Calhoun.

She is also survived by her aunt Esther Schmidt, brother, Arthur Matetzschk, and sister Fay Jordan, Sister-In-Law Marjorie Matetzschk and Shirlene Matetzschk, and numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ella Matetzschk, brothers, Glenward and Lawrence Matetzschk, her sister Pearl Kerr, and niece Jan Mogonye (and husband David) along with great-nephew Shawn Burgess.

Serving as Pallbearers are Jordan Calhoun, Clayton Calhoun, Braeden Calhoun, Allen Matetzschk, Robert Shelby, Brian Garvel, Ray Johnson, and Kevin Magnuson

Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the McDade Extension Education Club and The Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #6115

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2016, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Elaine's Life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 8, 2016, Faith Lutheran Church, McDade. Interment will follow in the Siloah Cemetery.
