Ray "Pop" John Alba

January 4, 1947 — March 1, 2016

Ray John Alba age 69, was called to the Lord on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born January 4, 1947 in Elgin Texas to Louis Sr. and Lucia Alba. People all over Elgin knew him by many names; Ray, Rudy and the most popular name “Pop”. He worked 26 years with the City of Austin and retired to his loving home in Elgin where he eventually returned to work with long-time family friend Bob Barker.

Pop had always enjoyed lending a hand and talking with people everywhere he went, he especially liked hanging out with his friend and good neighbor Gary Manning. He was loved and respected by many in the City of Elgin. He will be greatly missed at Main Stop, the Hardware store and at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Louis Jr., George, Andrew and Johnny.

He is survived by his loving wife Rosalinda F. Alba, son Ray Alba, Jr. and Rosalinda’s children, Angela and Robert Flores and sister Lupe Hernandez. He was a loving grandpa to his grandson’s Jon-Michael Flores and Robert Flores Jr.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2016, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning a 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 5, 2016, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
