Karen Lynn Lawler

March 1, 1967 — February 28, 2016

Karen Lynn (Krueger) Lawler of Elgin, Texas, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, fell asleep in Jesus and entered eternal glory with God in Heaven on February 28, 2016. She was born on March 1, 1967 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Kenneth and Nelda (Goerdel) Krueger. She was reborn into God’s Kingdom through Holy Baptism as an infant at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Prairie and later confirmed her Christian faith there.

Karen attended school in Grand Prairie and excelled in athletics, playing volleyball and softball in high school. She was active in Girl Scouts for twelve years, achieving the Lutheran Church God and Family award. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Walter Lawler on April 20, 1991 at St. John Lutheran Church in Athens, Texas.

Karen was devoted, along with Walter, to providing foster care for numerous children since 2006. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed animals and reading. She worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety for twelve years.

Karen was a long-time member, along with Walter and several other members of her family, of Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, where her faith was nourished by the Word of God and the Lord’s Supper.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Krueger; her brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Therese Krueger; her grandparents, Bruno and Alwine Goerdel and Carl and Ida Krueger; her mother-in-law, Lois Lawler; and her cousin, Sue Ann Giles.

Karen is survived by her husband, Walter Lawler; her sons, Derek and Shawn Lawler; her mother, Nelda Krueger; her brother, Allan Krueger; her sisters, Kathleen (Jed) Dube and Melinda (Craig) Miller; her father-in-law, James Lawler; her nephews, Joseph (Audra) Kemnitz, Kyle Kemnitz, Keith (Jessica Kinsey) Kemnitz, Kenneth (Mina) Krueger II, Joshua Dube, Scott (Erin) Miller, and Sean Miller; her nieces, Jessica Krueger, Kelsey Dube, and Elizabeth Miller; and her great-nieces, Katharine Kemnitz and Paisley Kemnitz.

Serving as pall bearers for Karen will be Allan Krueger, Doug Wilker, Jed Dube, Craig Miller, Kyle Kemnitz, and Keith Kemnitz. Honorary pall bearers are Joseph Kemnitz, James Partin, and Joshua Dube.
Though we mourn because of Karen’s death, we take comfort from the truth that she was saved for everlasting resurrected life by God’s grace, through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be glory forever!

Visitation will be at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas on Friday, March 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin on Saturday, March 5 at 12:00 p.m. Karen’s burial will be held at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pottsville, Texas.
