Cooper Lane Alanis

Cooper Lane Alanis was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. He was 18 years old and lost his battle to Muscular Dystrophy. Cooper didn’t let the disease define him or slow him down.

Cooper was born August 9, 1997 in Austin, TX to Don (Donnie) and Vickie Alanis. He grew up in McDade, TX and Elgin, TX. He graduated from Elgin High School in June of 2015. He graduated with Distinguished Achievement. He was very proud of that honor!

Cooper had sparkling blue eyes, an awesome smile that lit up every room, every person, and a personality full of wit and sarcasm. To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone, about anything!

Cooper loved hanging out with his friends, playing his video games, hanging out with his sister when she came home from college and was always with our dogs Annie and Ranger. He even hung out with his mom and dad and made them laugh often.

Cooper is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Nonie Boatwright, his papa Hank Colyer, his great-grandparents, Stuart and Emma Long and Lon and Sudie Barnett.

He is survived by his parents Don and Vickie Alanis, his sister Bailey Alanis, all of Elgin, TX., His grandparents, Robert and Connie Freeman of Lake Travis, TX., Jeff and Deena Long of Cedar Creek, TX., and Donna Scott of Waco, TX. Godparents James and Pam Harkins, his Aunts, Uncles and many Cousins and his honorary sister Brittany Garrett.

A visitation will be held from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home of Elgin. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2016 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment to follow at McDade Cemetery. Food and fellowship will be at the Elgin Public Library in their community room afterwards.

Pallbearers are Justin Dube, Morgan Dube, Hayden Hall, Brandon Montoya, Dre Hall, Nick Burrell, Austin Wilford, and Tyler Wilford.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of Cooper’s friends that knew and loved him.
