Ida Lorene Beauchamp

Ida Lorene Beauchamp “Granny”, age 82 of Elgin passed away December 19, 2015. Ida was born November 18, 1933 in Adina, TX to Pierce and Alice Turner. She was the youngest of four children.

Lorene attended Adina and Lexington schools. After all her children were in school she continued her education at the University of Texas where she graduated with honors with a degree in education. She loved her Longhorns! Ida taught elementary school in Elgin, Lexington, and First Baptist Private School. She loved teaching and was a gifted and caring teacher; always bringing out the very best in her students.

She taught Sunday School from the time she joined Crestview Baptist church as a young Mom. She loved the little ones; 4-5 yr. olds. She never raised her voice but could always capture the complete attention of every little face. Ida was a Faithful servant at First Baptist Church until she couldn’t physically get to church any longer; she worked at the food pantry, was the director of the Fellowship Committee, and was on the Budget/Finance Committee, but first and foremost she taught Sunday School. On her 70 the birthday she ‘climbed’ the tree at Adina Christian Church.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Beauchamp; great-grandson Kyler Noe; brother M.L. Turner; and sisters Bonnie Waggoner and Elsie McDavid.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth Beauchamp and wife Jennifer, Jimmy Beauchamp and wife Sheri; daughter Terri Edwards and husband Ray; grandchildren Tom and Candy Beauchamp, Ken Beauchamp, Jeannie and Shaun Conner, Christy and Robert Hoyland, Scott and Laura Beauchamp, Tracy and Shawn Noe, Robert and Melissa Socia, Lezlie and Tommy Wright, Johnathan Edwards, Sarah and Brian Klaus, Alyssa Edwards, and Rachel and Kenny Merrell; 17 Great-Grandchildren; and her black dachshund Blanca.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, December 21, 2015, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 Tuesday, December 22, 2015, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Adina Cemetery.
