Murle Joy Farrell, age 89, was born July 10, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Leonard Uriah and Effie Gertrude Crabb, one of four siblings, she was the youngest. She left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Austin, Texas after suffering a major stroke.
A wife, loving mother and grandmother, homemaker, antique glass and jewelry dealer and collector, she graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1943, married her husband Warren Marvon Farrell in 1954 and settled in Elgin, Texas in 1967 where they raised their sons, Warren Marvin, Jr. and David Farrell. While residents, they opened Elgin Craftsman where she was able to use her extensive accounting knowledge to manage the business operations of the shop. They continued their familial entrepreneurial endeavors via the opening of Big Tex Fireworks in 1990.
Joy is survived by her two sons, Dusty and Dave and his wife Lynn, her five grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Shelly, David, JoEllen and her husband Steve, Justin and his wife Lisa and Johnathan. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Claire and Lilly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Marvon Farrell, Sr., her parents, lovingly nicknamed Big Mama and Big Daddy, her three siblings, Raymond, Anna May and Celeste, her daughter-in-law, Ellen Jean Farrell and her daughter Holly Lynne.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 6th at 12:00pm at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with graveside services immediately following at 2pm, Elgin Cemetery.
