Paul Gardner Irish passed away peacefully in his home on September 15, 2015 in Elgin, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 4, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island to Arthur and Dorothy Irish. He enlisted in the United States Air Force immediately following high school graduation and proudly served his country for twenty years (including two wartime tours in Vietnam) before retiring. Paul served a second career at the State of Texas Public Utility Commission where he worked until he retired to realize his lifelong dream of a home in the country.
Paul married Peggy Ann Baker in Jacksboro, Texas on March 31, 1962. His daughter Susan Elizabeth was born on March 7, 1964 followed by Stephanie Lynn on April 9, 1965 and Scott Gardner on June 8, 1970. He would say his family was his greatest accomplishment.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Peggy on July 1, 2014.
His is survived by his brother Barry and his wife Barbara and their family and a sister Linda. His children, Beth and her husband Darren Hamilton; Stephanie and her husband Don Wotipka; Scott and his wife Judy Irish and his beloved grandchildren Chad, Ben, Matthew, Amanda and Jackson.
Visitation will be held at 3:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday, September 20, 2015 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin Texas. A Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
