Mildred (Millie) Doris Rogers Johnson, 78, of Lexington passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 after a battle with cancer. Millie was born June 23, 1937 to Cecil Festus Rogers and Sallie Alma Malone Rogers. She graduated from Elgin High School and married Joe Johnson on February 4, 1955. Millie worked for the University of Texas in the Accounting Department. She also owned and ran a daycare in Blue along with being a foster parent. She was a long time member of the Adina Christian Church.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joe Johnson, her parents, her brother, Cecil Damon Rogers, her sister, Alma Ruth Bostic, brother-in-law, Bill Baker, and her sister-in-laws, Billie Jones, Mae Brown and Mary Alice Bittle.
Millie is survived by her sisters, Edna Baker and Lola and Carl Cole, brother-in-law Buster Bostic, sons Joey and Debbie and Guy, six grandchildren, Tanya and Scott Weddle, Amanda Johnson, Nathan and Lyndsey Johnson, Sara and Brandon Suttles, Michael and Celinda Johnson and Travis Johnson and six great grandchildren, Kaidyn, Bailey, Harley and Kamryn Johnson and Lincoln and Kennedy Suttles.
Millie loved her family and her friends. Her infectious smile and positive outlook on life will be greatly missed.
A memorial service celebrating Millie’s life will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 2:00 at Providence- Jones Family Funeral Home.
