Shirley Ann Groot

Shirley Ann (Ross) Groot, age 67 of Elgin, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2015.

Shirley was born April 23, 1948 to Delmer and Leona (Wolf) Ross in Crockett, Texas. Her passion in life was spending time with her family. For the past 20 years, Shirley enjoyed traveling with her husband, Wayne Hollevoet. She also enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends and volunteering with Wayne in serving our country’s veterans. She was an avid crafter and particularly enjoyed making jewelry.

She is preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Hollevoet, ex-husband John Groot, mother Leona Gilliland, sisters Linda Meshell, Katherine Robinson, and Evelyn Branham, brother Bobby Ross, children Michele (Groot) Hackney, Michael Groot, Melody (Hollevoet) Dalton, Wayne Ham Hollevoet, Janette Hollevoet, and Evette Dalton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: John Michael, Kelly Michele, Vance, Rebecca, Dakota, Jessica, Dorothy, Jonathan, Sabrina, Daman Paul, Bobby and 7 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, TX. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

The Family would like to thank the administration and staff of Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for providing good care to Shirley this past year.
