Richard Howard Dismuke

Richard Howard Dismuke, 87 years old, passed away due to a sudden illness on Saturday, June 27, 2015 with his wife and children at his side.

He was born on March 12, 1928 in Lee County, Texas. Richard retired after 30 years of service at National Services Industries. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and ranching as well as poker games with family and friends. He also enjoyed monthly fish fries with his friends at the lake. In 1983, Richard and his loving wife Shirley moved to Elgin and carved out their dream home on Whipperwill Lane. Throughout his life, Richard’s integrity and generosity served as a model for his children and grandchildren. Richard was always there with a kind word of encouragement or advice and touched more lives than he knew.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Lillian Dismukes, a brother Harold J. Dismukes, a sister Rita Ann Dismukes, and a son, Glenn Douglas Dismuke.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Jatzlau Dismuke, two sisters Peggie Rue Sternberg (Claude) and Judy Carol Watson (Charlie). He is survived by two daughters Linda Falan and Donna Hinkle (Skip), and two sons Richard E. Dismuke, Sr. (Brenda) and Ronnie Dismuke (Gogie). He is also survived by five grandsons, Richard E. Dismuke, Jr. (Liz), Ronald Craig Falan, Jr., Glen D. Dismuke II, Jared Ryan Dismuke, and Jason Rosh Dismuke; and three granddaughters, Sheila Ann Sanchez (Joe), Deborah Dismuke, and Brandy Lynn Hellums (Todd) along with numerous great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Damore, Roberta, and the rest of the staff at the Austin Diagnostic Clinic for all of their care and concern.

Services will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin Texas. Viewing on Wednesday, July 1 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Family visitation on Thursday July 2 at 10:00 AM and services, officiated by Rev. Donny Meegan, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Associations.

Pallbearers will be: Richard E. Dismuke, Jr., Dustin Dismuke, Bailey Dismuke, Hunter Dismuke, Daniel Sanchez, and Craig Falan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Claude Hinkle, Claude Sternberg, Jimmie Lee Christensen, Tommy Southworth, Robert Brown, Dr. Stuart Damore and Eddie Bostic
