Maureen Fay Johnston

Maureen Woehl Johnston, age 92 was born in Bastrop, Texas on October 21, 1922 to Arthur Joe Woehl Sr. and Gladys Turner Woehl. She passed away May 1st 2015 in Austin, Texas. She was married to Carl S. Johnston.

Maureen worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 35 years until her retirement. She belonged to Prospect Hill OES in San Antonio, Texas and was a past Worthy Matron of Bastrop OES Chapter. She also belonged to the CWA, Telephone company Pioneers and the Central Christian Church in Elgin, Texas

Maureen is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Carl, her step daughter (Donna) and her two sisters, Dorothy and Mary Jo.

She is survived by her brothers Arthur Joe Woehl Jr. (Norma), Jerry Woehl (Radeen), Bobby Woehl (Bonnie), and sister in law Nell Bearden of Elk City, OK. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Family would like to Thank All of the caretakers in St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas, Warm Springs Rehab Center in Lulling, Texas and the Bastrop Nursing Center in Bastrop, Texas for all the care that they gave to Maureen during her illness.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 6:00-8:00pm at the Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin. A Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00A.M Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Central Christian Church in Elgin. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made to the Central Christian Church Building Funds.
