Howard Bishop Sr.

Brother Howard Bishop Sr. age 91 of Elgin passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015.

He was born on December 10, 1923 in Sayersville, Texas to Patrick and Pauline Bishop. After his schooling, he moved to Elgin, Texas and united in matrimony to his wife, Eddie Lee Bishop of 62 Years
.
He was a very hard worker and dedicated his life to taking care of family. His work began as a brick mason while he also worked as a part-time gas service attendant for approximately 33 years. He later went to work for the state of Texas and retired after 20 years of employment. Even after his state retirement, he took on various jobs in the community until his health began to decline.

Howard professed a hope in Christ at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a faithful deacon for many years. He brought up his children in the church and willingly transported the youth choir to numerous church events.

He preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lee Bishop (wife), Eva Mae Bishop (daughter), and Oliver K. Jones III (grandson). Sisters: Lillie B., Ola, Arizona, Minnie, Elee, Ariadane, Roseanne. Brother: Hubert.
Howard leaves to cherish his memories: 1 son Howard Bishop, Jr. and 2 daughters Bernetta A Smith, and Jennifer J. Jones, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends

A Visitation will be held 6:30-8:00P.M. Friday, March 13, 2015 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services 11A.M. Saturday, March 14, 2015 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment to follow Westbrook Cemetery.
