Ida Orene Bostic Knetsch age 90 of Elgin, passed away Thursday February 26, 2015.
Orene was born March 17, 1924 in Yoakum, Texas to Gordon L. & Susie Middleton Bostic.
Orene was one of nine children, the only girl in the midst of seven boys until her little sister Lola arrived in 1938. She attended school through eleventh grade in Fashing, Texas. She married Edwin C Knetsch, Sr. on November 8, 1941 in Fashing, Texas. In 1947, she and Ed moved to La Pryor, Texas where they raised all seven of their children. She was homemaker-in-charge for a large family but Orene also was an avid gardener, loved to crochet, knit, read and fish. In retirement, Orene and Ed spent several years traveling in a travel trailer visiting Texas parks, their kids and fishing on the coast. They settled in Uvalde with their youngest son and family and lived there until 2010 when they moved to Elgin to live with their oldest daughter. During the past 6 months Orene resided at the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she enjoyed the care and compassion of dedicated staff particularly those serving her in the 300 wing.
Orene and Ed were long-time members of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, raising all of their children at St Paul Lutheran Church in La Pryor. In Elgin they have been faithfully served by Pastor Carl Roth of Grace Lutheran Church.
Orene was preceded in death by her husband Edwin on September 25, 2014, her parents, her brothers Lonzo, Jady, Alton (Shine), Bob, Clarence (Shorty) and H. T Bostic and one daughter, Shirley Dennis.
Survivors include sons; Ed Knetsch Jr. and wife Tracey , Robert Knetsch, Paul Ray Knetsch and wife Terri, daughters; Patsy Coyner, Kathie Young, and Marsha Jean Sparks and husband Preston. She is survived by one brother Garvid (Buster) Bostic, and sister, Lola Joyce. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Elgin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center or your charity of choice.
A celebration of Orene’s life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin.
