Dorothy Hernandez

Dorothy Hernandez of Elgin, Texas passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2015.

She was born in Austin, Texas to Isabel and Augustine Zuniga on June 5, 1945. She was an Austin High Graduate class of 1963. Dorothy attended Brackenridge School of Nursing with an LVN degree. Retired from the Austin State School.

She was the loving wife to Joaquin of 44 years. The loving mother to her daughters Gina Fuentes of Georgetown, Texas, Bobbie (Chris) Wissen of Elgin, TX., Margaret “Cookie” Hernandez and Mark Eddleton of Austin, TX., and son Joaquin Hernandez IV of Elgin, TX. The caring grandmother to Ashley Grier, Katie Tripps, Eric Tello, Robert Wissen, and Zachary Ott-Hernandez; and great-grandchildren Avery Grier, Jacob and Haleigh Tello.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, her infant daughter Melissa Ann Hernandez and Brother Jesse Bosque and great grandson Wyatt Grier.

Dorothy is also survived by her sisters Ramona Herrera of Austin, TX., Lorenza Zuniga or Austin, TX., and Tina Pardo Kingsville, TX.; brothers Donato (Carol) Zuniga of Austin, TX., Ramon Zuniga of Austin, TX., and Benny (Debbie) Zuniga of Round Rock, TX., Mauricio (Linda) Zuniga of Kyle TX.; and numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sister in laws.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their support in her final days.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2015, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Celebration of Mass Christian Burial will be held 10:00 Saturday, February 28, 2015, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
