Walter David Palmquist

February 23, 1930 — December 5, 2014

Walter David "Gramps" Palmquist, age 84 of Elgin, Texas went to his eternal resting place with his Lord and Savior, on December 5, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Zada Holland Palmquist, his three children Kay Palmquist Watson(Tommy), Candy Palmquist Wheeler(Mike), and David "Rocky" Palmquist; six grandchildren Karly Watson, Kevin Watson, Kelly Mounce(Michael), Britny Bounds(Brandon), Michael Wheeler, and Maegan Zapiain(Nico); eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was a decorated Marine Sergeant Drill Instructor and a veteran of the Korean War, truly exemplifying the meaning behind the slogan "The Few. The Proud. The Marines." David retired from the University of Texas after many years as a computer programmer and systems analyst. He was an avid Longhorn fan. David had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his jokes and tall tales.

He is predeceased by his infant daughter, twin to Kay; his parents, three sisters and two brothers along with several nieces and nephews. He is forever loved and will be forever missed.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2014, Austin Memorial Park Cemetery at 2800 Hancock Drive in Austin, Texas.
