Dorothy Sue Hobbs

July 23, 1931 — November 7, 2014

Dorothy Sue (Cox) Hobbs was born on July 23, 1931 in Lee County, Texas to Ruben A and Adell (Hart) Cox. She passed away surrounded by her family at home on November 6, 2014.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben A Cox and Adell Hart Cox; her brother James A Cox; her sister Gladys Cox; her granddaughter Lanna Jo Ruthven and great grandson Anthony Hobbs. She is survived by her daughter Linda Ruthven and her husband Larry, her two sons Jimmie Hobbs and his wife Sandra and Glen Hobbs and his wife Dubhe; her sister Bobbie Morrison and her husband Calvin; 16 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family more than words can describe. She would do anything and everything to help those in need of it. From babysitting her grand babies to doing just about anything asked of her you would find her doing it with a smile on her face. Dorothy loved sewing and making something out of nothing. She thought that nothing should be thrown out because someone could make use of it. Everything in her eyes had a purpose. Along with sewing Dorothy always had her eyes glued to a western novel. She had the biggest passion for reading you would have thought she was watching a never ending movie. Before she got sick you would see her out fiddling around in her yard. Whether it was in her garden or babying her beloved grapefruit tree; she was doing something outdoors. Dorothy Sue (Cox) Hobbs was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

The family would like to thank Standard Hospice, the Nurses at Austin Cancer in Georgetown, and Dr. Benjamin Downie for their loving care.

A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 Saturday, November 8, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2014, Adina Christian Church, near Lexington. Burial will follow in the Hobbs Family Cemetery.
