Ellen Jean Farrell, 58-years-old, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Austin, Texas. After her valiant fight with Breast Cancer in 2006, Ellen’s battle resumed in 2011. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through 3 more years of grueling treatments.
Ellen was born on August 9, 1956 in Elgin, Texas to Clyde and Betty Lundgren. The middle of three children, her brothers – Travis Lundgren and Don Lundgren and wife Julie – all live in Elgin, Texas. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1974 and earned an Associate Degree from Durham Business School in 1976.
Known for her beautiful blue eyes, incredible smile and easy-going personality, Ellen was a friend to many and had such a caring nature. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being impacted by her example of constant nurturing love and faith. She never failed to take time if someone opened their heart to her and she found they needed encouragement or even an impromptu sermon about the goodness of God.
Ellen’s relationship with her future husband, Warren Marvin (“Dusty”) Farrell began in the fall of 1972 on a high school band bus. Dusty was sitting in the back of the bus when he saw Ellen walking down the bus aisle with no seats left. At that moment Dusty said, “Hey Lundgren, come sit with me!” and she happily obliged. Four years later, Ellen married her high school sweetheart on May 22, 1976 and raised their 2 children, Matthew and JoEllen in Elgin, Texas. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Ellen’s greatest contribution to life was being a constant caretaker and role model to her children who now have families and successful careers of their own. More recently, her greatest joy was spending time with her 5-year-old grandson.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband, Dusty Farrell, and their two children, Matthew and his wife, Shelly, and JoEllen and her husband, Steve with their son, Ethan. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Lundgren but her father, the late Clyde Lundgren preceded her. She has two brothers, Travis Lundgren and Don Lundgren and his wife Julie; and Ellen’s in-laws David and Lynn Farrell as well as numerous, wonderful and loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Ellen's Life will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Family Worship Center, Elgin. She will be laid to rest in the Elgin Cemetery.
