Lucy Resendez Chavarria age 98, of Elgin, answered the call from her Lord on Wednesday October 8th, 2014.

The core of her life was that of service to others. Her ministry of love was shown by her excellent cooking. She loved to gather her family and friends around her table to share a home cooked meal that she had happily prepared.

“It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved mother. We are comforted with the knowledge that she imparted to us as children: God is Love and we have eternal life in Christ Jesus.
Mom’s biggest legacy is the faith and trust in our Savior that she imparted to us. She was a founding member of the Bethel Methodist Church for over 70 years and was the church secretary for the majority of those years. She read the Bible daily. Our favorite memory of her was listening to her sing wonderful Spanish hymns of praise and worship as she did household chores.
Her faith never waivered. We are comforted with the knowledge that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives. We praise God.”
