William Hugo Torn

Bobby passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014.

He was born in Sprinkle, Texas on February 22, 1933. Bobby grew up in the Manor area and graduated from Manor High School in 1951. He married Gladys Viertel on May 19, 1984. He was a farmer and rancher, and also a mail carrier. He took special care of his cows, which were the best fed cows in the world. He also enjoyed helping to raise his dear nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Bobby loved the outdoors and particularly liked watching the rain from his lawn chair in the garage. He was loved by many, and had several knick names: Bill, Foosy, and Fuzzy, but most lovingly he was our Bobby.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Torn, brother, Roy Torn, and great-nephews Bradley Torn and Reid Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Torn, brother, Carl Torn (Carolyn), sister, Mary Ann Parker (Doug), and sister in-law Nancy Torn. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews, Gary Torn (Lucy), Russell Torn (Shannon), Joyce Ann Herzog (Terry), Becky Schneider (Scooter), Seth Bradley, Allen Matetzschk, Scott Parker (Tina), Lisa Williams (Quincy), and Laurie Fay (Jake).

Visitation will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas on Friday August 15, 2014 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas. Interment will be held at the Carmine Cemetery in Carmine, Texas directly after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manor United Methodist Church, and Hospice Austin.

The family would like to thank all of Bobby’s hospice care givers and the Hope Group for their exceptional, around-the-clock, loving care.
