Amiel Lee Dove

January 8, 1931 — July 22, 2014

On January 8, 1931 a precious baby boy was born to the late Samuel and Rosie Dove in Bastrop County, Texas. They named him Amiel Lee Dove, the oldest of ten siblings.

As a child he was nurtured and rooted in the admiration of the Lord. He accepted Christ at an early age, baptized and united with the Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church , and has kept active membership for over sixty years. He attended Booker T Washington Elementary and Elgin High School where he made many long time friends.

In 1953 he met and married his dream girl Edna Lou Hemphill, whom he has loved for 61 years. To this union eight children were born.
Amiel worked at Elgin Butler Brick Co. for 20 years, and later worked for the Texas Highway Department of Transportation. These were the golden years that led to his retirement. As he proceeded in life he was ordained as a deacon in 1992 and served as assistant superintendent of Sunday School/Bible study and President of the Brotherhood. He was considered Father of the church..

He leaves his legacy with his beautiful wife, Mrs. Edna L. Dove; his children, Lee (Joyce) Baker, Norris(Tina) Dove, Novella Dove, Ruby Dove, Lee(Vicki)Dove, and Debra Dove. Sisters: Rosie L. Dove, Etta Faye Ivy, Mildred Dove, and Doris (Edward) Fowler. Brothers: Claude ( Leora) Dove and Roy Lee Dove and a host of other relative and friends.
Deacon Dove was blessed to be part of six generations. He will forever be missed by 20 grandchildren, 38 great grand children and 3 great great great grandchildren

Those gone before him awaiting his arrival are his parents , daughters: Shirley Marie, Edna Mae, sisters: Beatrice Williams, Gloria Badger, and brother, James Denmom.

A visitation will be held 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Home Going Celebration will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2014, First Baptist Church-Elgin. He will be laid to rest in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
