Dixie Wilson

Dixie Dean Wilson passed away on March 30, 2014 in Bastrop, Texas.   She was born August 25, 1915 in Bastrop County to Harvey and Carrie Scott. She married Charlie Wilson on December 24, 1937.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Ollie Scott, sister Ruth Bennett and son-in-law Martin Swayze.

She is survived by daughters Sylvia Swayze of Lockhart; Marjorie Snyder and husband Leonard of Cedar Creek; Nancy Barton of Austin and son Charles Wilson and wife Delilah of Elgin; sisters Lucille Bahn Jones of Elgin; Mary Bryan and Jewel Anderson of Austin and Alma Ries of Elgin.

Also surviving are grandsons David Swayze and wife Linda of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Allen Swayze and wife Rebecca of Seguin; Len Snyder and wife Lisa of Bastrop; Daniel Traweek of Oregon; grand-daughters Amanda Barton Gonzalez and husband Mario of Glenville, New York; Katie Reese and husband Vic of Elgin; Dotia Roberts and husband Russell of Annapolis, Maryland; great-grandsons Dustin Swayze of Lockhart; Vic Reese of Elgin; Emilio Gonzalez of Austin; Charlie Roberts of Annapolis, Maryland; great-daughters Lauren Snyder of Denton, and Jillian Roberts of Annapolis, Maryland. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Dixie lived most of her life as a homemaker in Elgin where she was a member of the Central Christian Church. She was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

At the time of her death, she was a resident of Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehab Center where she always had a smile and thank you for those who cared for her. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehab Home staff and to Resolutions Hospice for their loving care and support to their loved one.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Dixie’s Life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Chapel with burial following in the Elgin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Resolution Hospice, 11825 Buckner Road, Austin, TX 78726 or to a charity of choice.
