Boyce Murrel Woods, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014. He was born February 3, 1926 in Archer County TX to David A. and Dottie P. Woods.
Boyce was preceded in death by his wife Norma, parents, brothers and twin sister. He is survived by his children, Alicia Woods, Debra Wilson and Murry Woods; grandchildren Clay, Leslie and Samuel Wilson, and Alexis Woods; brother David Woods Jr. and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Boyce and Norma were married February 1, 1947 and celebrated 58 years of marriage. Having served in WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam War, he retired in 1975 as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. He spent his remaining years pursuing his passion for ranching.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years and was active until the last few months singing in both the church choir and the Elgin community choir. Music lifted his soul and brought joy to his life.
Mr. Woods will lie in state 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home for those who would like to pay their respects. A Celebration of Boyce’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, Interment with military honors following at Elgin Cemetery.
