Homer Earl Lester

October 22, 1944 — February 24, 2014

Homer Earl Lester age 69 of Lexington, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 in a tragic accident, while working in Arizona.

Homer was born October 22, 1944 in Wellington, Texas to Sam and Jackie Lester. He was raised in Skellytown and graduated from White Deer High School. Homer lived in Pampa, Texas for many years; he moved to Blue, Texas in 2001 to be near his grandson who he loved very much.

He worked for Texaco for over 30 Years, worked security for Manor Downs, and was currently working for Swift Trucking as a truck driver.


Homer never met a stranger and loved to talk. He loved the ranch life-all of his dogs, goats and especially the horses. He also loved refereeing high school football and basketball games, in which he did for close to 40 years.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Thomas Lester.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl Lester; a daughter, Lorrie Phillips and her husband Mark; grandson, Cole Phillips; Sisters, Joy Miller, Nancy Riley and her husband Don; nieces and nephews, Laura Mayo and Husband Beau, Sam Mills, Michele Shero and husband Eric, Kipp Thomas and Kirk Thomas

A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2014, Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church, near Elgin.
