Michael Rhea Cash

Michael Rhea Cash, age 53, of Elgin, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2014.

Mike was born to Jimmie and Dorothy Cash on February 7, 1960 in New Braunfels, TX, their youngest and only son.

Mike graduated from Canyon High School in 1978 and joined the U.S. Navy that same year. He served honorably for 22 years, traveling the world and meeting the love of his life while stationed in Hawaii! While serving, Mike commissioned 3 Naval ships. He served his last tour aboard the USS Inchon in Ingleside, TX and retired as a Senior Chief Electricians Mate in 2000. After retiring from the Navy, Mike began working for Applied Materials in Austin, TX.

Mike loved being outdoors, watching and listening to the birds, golfing, fishing, working in his garden or piddling in his shop. The most important thing to Mike was his family. Spending time with his wife and kids was always his top priority. Mike especially enjoyed having the family over to barbecue on his Big Green Egg. Mike enjoyed socializing and never met a stranger. Some of his favorite moments were feeding the Varsity Wildcats on Friday nights and he enjoyed assisting at power lifting meets and being able to reconnect with his son Chris. Some of his proudest moments were watching Bailey cheer, being there for Austin's football games and watching both Austin and Bailey graduate from Elgin High School.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Angie Cash and their two children Austin Rhea Cash and Bailey Joyce Cash, and his son Christopher Lee Rhea. His siblings Donna and husband Kenneth Schmidt, Kathy Cash and Laura and husband Robert Kramer along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mike was a loving husband , father, brother, son and friend to many.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, January 31, 2014, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014, Family Worship Center, Elgin. Graveside Services with full Military Honors will be held 9:45 AM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX

In lieu of flowers, Mike’s family asks that memorial gifts be made in his honor to The Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
