Leonard Ray Brown age 72, of Elgin, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his home.
Leonard was born February 20, 1941 in Elgin to Lige and Adie Lee Mercer Brown. He attended school in Manor. After graduating from high school he married the love of his life Dorothy Mitchell, on August 3, 1962. Leonard worked for the State of Texas and also worked for many years as a plumber including owning his own plumbing business. He served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Manor for many years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, and he loved playing softball. Leonard was a hard working man who loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Rodney Brown, granddaughter, Brittanie Brown, great grandson, Jordan Rodriguez, brother, Elwood “Dagwood” Brown, sister. Francis Davis and sister, Betty Duncan.
He is Survived by his wife Dorothy Brown, sons; Todd Brown, Greg Brown and Jose Brown, brothers; Leroy Brown, Elroy Brown, Norman Brown and John David “Sugie” Brown, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces; Teresa, Codie, Amanda, Megan, Linda, LaNell, Elaine, Pearl, Carolyn, Nikki, Cheryl, Janice, and Susie nephews; Corey, Eddy, Clinton, Tommy, Charlie, Matt, Kasey, Scott James, Lance James, Randall, LR, Carl Lidge, Lidge Dale, Stephen, Michael and Gary,
The family will receive guests from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 2, 2013, First Baptist Church in Elgin. Interment will follow at the JJ Manor Cemetery in Webberville.
