Lt. Col. George H. Roberts

George Henry Roberts (LT. COL. USAF RET.), 89 passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from a sudden illness. George was born on December 15, 1923 to Tom and Bertha Schroeder Roberts in Austin, Texas. On September 11, 1944 he married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Jane Moore. Their early married life was spent traveling with the Air Force until settling in Austin to a career with the U.S. Post Office until retirement in 1979 after 30 years. George served as a pilot in the Air Force Reserves. He received numerous decorations and retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant Colonel while flying C-130 and C-119 transports. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Joseph (Joe) Roberts, and his brother, Murray Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 69 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Roberts Friebele (John) of San Antonio; sons, George H. Roberts, Jr. (special friend Carol Roberts) of Austin; Tim Roberts (Anita) of Rosanky; Terry Roberts (Chandra) of Pflugerville; and Scott Roberts (Suzette) of Pflugerville. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Brandy Friebele Lloyd (Jerry), Holly Friebele Salinas (Marc), Becky Roberts Owen (Jacob), Patrick Roberts, Tim Roberts, Jr. (Amanda), Larissa Roberts, Cheyenne Roberts, and Stephanie Roberts Camp (Brian). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Lacee Sowell (Clint), John, Jacob and Katie Lloyd, Taylor and Brooke Roberts, Camilla and Gabriella Salinas, and Addison and Briley Camp.

The Family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of St. David’s Hospital and the staff of the Elgin and Pflugerville Nursing Homes. The viewing will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin. Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Cook-Walden Capital Park Cemetery in Pflugerville.
