Jeraldine Grace Edwards

Beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother Jeraldine “Jeri” Grace McKinney Edwards born April 30, 1920, passed away gracefully with her family on April 17, 2013. She had been residing at her daughter’s home in McDade, Texas.

Jeri is survived by her children, son Mike (Carolyn) LaFountain of Arlington, Texas, son Pat (Lynnie) LaFountian of Casper, Wyoming, son Tommy (Janis) LaFountain of Albuquerque, New Mexico, daughter Lynne (Greg) Newman of McDade, Texas, son Ken (Ernestine) Edwards of Burleson, Texas and brother Johnny McKinney of Midlothian, Texas. Jeri was a grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her husband Leston “Hink” Edwards preceded her in death on March 16, 2006.

Jeri resided in Hobbs, New Mexico for 47 years as a homemaker and seamstress specializing in stuffed toys. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary at The Good Samaritan for 25 years and was widely respected among her peers. Jeri was known for her strong spirit and robust sense of humor; she will be profoundly missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rosanne Culen, Dr. Claudia Molina-Batlle, and Dr. Akkanti Reddy, along with Heart to Heart Hospice in Austin, all nurses and staff, but especially Nancy, RN, Leigh, RN, Reyna, CNA, and Deidra, CNA for the overwhelmingly kind care they provided for Jeri.

A Visitation will be held on 1:00 PM Sunday, April 21, 2013 with Celebration of Life Services beginning at 2:00 Pm, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.

Internment will be in Hobbs, New Mexico at Prairie Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who would like to honor her memory may make contributions to the charity of choice.
