Linda Darnell Washington

Linda Darnell Washington---On September 9, 1950 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland; The Lord blessed the union of Charles and Essie Lee Jones with their second child, a beautiful baby girl whom they named Linda Darnell.
She attended school in Bastrop, Texas. Linda accepted Christ at an early age and had a special love for God. She had a great compassion to touch people in positive ways.
Linda was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Jerry Dean Washington. To this union six children were born; three sons, and three daughters.
Linda savored in the joy of being a mother, and considered her role as Mom her greatest accomplishment. She was a devoted wife, mother, beloved daughter, a loving sister, and a special friend to many. Linda was a nourisher, leader, provider, and a warrior. Full of love, comfort, patience, truth, encouragement, strength, faith, and “to know her was to love her.”
On February 21, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, Linda’s journey on earth came to an end, and she went on to begin her new life with her Heavenly Father.
Linda was preceded in death by father; Charles Jones Sr., mother; Essie Lee Jones, sister; Mary Woods, brother; Robert Jones, and grandmother; Ella “Dora” Williams.
Linda’s legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends will be forever cherished by her husband; Jerry Washington, her children; Andrew (Kealy) Washington, Veronica (George) Smith, Terry (Jodi) Washington, Cassandra Washington, Gerald (Keri) Washington, and Linda (Tony) Jenkins. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Linda will also be remembered by her brothers and sisters: Charles (Theresa) Jones, Clement (Freddie) Jones, Clementine Hoskins, Udell Jones, Cleve Jones, and Yvonne Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2013 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 Am Thursday, February 28, 2013, Providence-Jones Family Chapel. Interment will follow at the Clear View Cemetery in Bastrop.
