Rhonda Hope Blackmore

May 5, 1953 — January 19, 2013

Rhonda Shumway Blackmore, age 59 of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was born May 5, 1953 in Corsicana, Texas. Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents Faye Shumway, Janet Williamson, and Jon Shumway. She is survived by her husband Ron Blackmore; brothers Lee Shumway (Christine), and Cliff Shumway; sisters Cynthia Turner (Joe), and Misty Wombacher (Mike); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rhonda was a very dedicated nurse. She had an extensive medical career that started as an emergency room technician which led to being an Austin EMS paramedic. She then became an RN in the emergency room, a flight nurse, and helped open Med Spring Urgent Care. Rhonda loved life which included rodeoing, riding motorcycles as a member of the Los Pistoleros Motorcycle Club, cruises, and gambling. She had a deep love for animals.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jon Belsher (founder of Med Spring) for his ongoing support, Elgin Nursing and Rehab Center, Hospice Austin, and the staff of St. David’s North Hospital.
Visitation will be held 9:00am Friday, January 25, 2013; Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00am Friday, January 25, 2013, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Urgent Animals of Bastrop County.
